NURTURING A LOVE OF LIFELONG LEARNING
With the seeds of lifelong learning in place, our primary students now forge ahead on their adventure - an adventure of learning that is active, hands-on exploration. Sparking the spirit of inquiry and producing independent learners – proficiencies they will use all their lives. It is at this stage that they begin to grasp complex concepts and connect with the real world through the prism of academic domains like reading, writing and numbers.
It's not all academic, though. Innovative modules bring alive our vision. The unique potential of the child blossoms with AHA!, our robust arts and sports curriculum. AHA! seamlessly integrates with, and then goes beyond classroom learning to local and global contexts. Just by 'doing', children acquire crucial abilities like thinking and research, social interaction and communication, as well as self-management.
Experiential Learning in Primary School
In Grade 1, taking water as a theme, our experiential Funkaar programme interweaves disciplines, melds the scholastic and co-scholastic in an exciting, hands-on way, without resort to textbooks. Reading a poem in English about water, writing an essay in Hindi; exploring the workings of the drinking water system in the school as an EVS project; water paintings in Art, dance mudras that depict waterfalls, and learning estimation by experimenting with water for numbers. Children observe, probe, reflect on, and dive deep into a subject, engaging with academic subjects, and varied concepts.
In Grade 5, a democratically elected Junior Student Council is formed, a time of hectic campaigning, voting, and an uprising of values like integrity and responsibility. The Joy of Sharing week exposes our students to the importance of a collective conscience, and a sense of service, respect and compassion towards their community. Aligning with our Vision: the holistic development of each child.Play Here
Our classroom tools are varied and effective. Integrated learning forms the foundation of our methodology. The blended learning models for language use technology and traditional classroom teaching to engage children and illuminate concepts. Teamwork and collaborative effort drive children to do their best. They share their exciting discoveries through discussions, projects and student-led action. Best of all, the needs of diverse learners are met by our dedicated teachers through differentiated teaching methods.
In both scholastic and co-scholastic domains, we evaluate continuously and comprehensively. There are no formal examinations. The assessments are embedded within the learning process. The information we collect feeds back into our teaching learning process and helps us meet learning objectives.
